Redcar and Cleveland Ironstone Heritage Trail

The Redcar and Cleveland Heritage Trail is to be led by archaeologist Steve Sherlock who has been researching the Ironstone history of the area and talking to local groups.

The Redcar and Cleveland Heritage Trail walks will run over 2 separate days.

Walk one will take place on the 25th March will start in Eston Square next to the War Memorial and then visit Pinchinthorpe and on to Guisborough Priory. The walk will visit California, Eston Nab and industrial remains on the hills, further sites near Guisborough finishing at the Priory.

Walk two will take place on the 1st April will start at the entrance to Guisborough Priory and finish at Skinningrove. The walk will visit the Margrove Valley and North Skelton and finish at the Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum, passing industrial sites and visable mines along the route.

Terrain for the course is medium with only one steep incline.
Under 18′s are welcome but must be supervised by an adult at all times.
The walk is expected to last approximately 4 hours.
Please bring along your own refreshments and suitable clothing i.e. waterproofs and walking boots. transport will be provided to take you back to the starting point.

Participation will be subject to signing a declaration form.
No pets will be allowed on the walk.
