CANCELLED – 31st Annual Fire Engine and Vintage Vehicle Rally

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – Due to inclement weather and the poor forecast for the weekend, organisers have taken the decision to cancel the event below.

Cleveland Fire Brigade will be taking centre stage at one of the country’s oldest fire engine rally’s this weekend (23/24 June).

The 31st Annual Fire Engine and Vintage Vehicle Rally returns to PrestonPark, Eaglescliffe for two days of action-packed fun for all the family.

At the event, firefighters from Stockton Fire Station will be carrying out a simulated road traffic rescue demonstration in the main arena at around 3pm on both days whilst visitors will also be able to view the fireboat from Thornaby Station.

Ian McHugh, Cleveland Fire Brigade’s Stockton District Manager, said: “Everyone at the Brigade is really looking forward to the event which is always popular. It presents us with a great opportunity to reach out to the local community and help get our key safety messages across to the people ofClevelandand beyond.

“As well as the road traffic rescue demonstration, we’ll have a number of fire appliances on site for visitors to see. We’ll also be giving out fire safety advice, including how people can arrange a free Home Fire Safety Visit.”

Organised by serving and retired fire personnel, the event was originally held atTeessideAirport(now Durham/Tees Valley Airport) but moved toPrestonParkin 1989. Stockton Borough Council supports the event.

Brett Clayton, one of the organisers, said: “It’s great to receive the support from local fire and rescue services. We’ve got an excellent array of fire engines and vintage vehicles plus lots of other attractions to suit all ages and I just hope that the weather is kind to us. “

As well as modern and vintage fire appliances, there will also be a selection of vintage cars, military and commercial vehicles and farm machinery. Other attractions include a monster car crushing machine, an aerobatic display and popular children’s Characters Blaze Bear and Fireman Sam.

The event is held from 11am to 5pm each day with the main arena attractions starting at 12noon. Admission is £4 for adults and £2 for children/concessions.
