Redcar Athletic FC v Middlesbrough FC – 25th Feb 14

By published 20 February, 2014 No Comments

On Tuesday 25th Feb at Green Lane, Redcar TS10 3RW Redcar Athletic will be making their first major step to bring back the football glory days in Redcar when they entertain a Middlesbrough FC side in the 1/4 final of the North Riding Senior Cup.

Redcar is steeped in football tradition but its days of having a high profile football team are long gone but with a newly developed ground boasting floodlights & spectator provision Redcar Athletic are aiming to put Redcar back on the footballing map. With the backing of local business and companies Redcar Athletic’s immediate aim is to bring Northern League football back to the town but Tuesday night is a big step along the way giving the club a chance to showcase its facilities and its Team.

The game is not the first between the 2 sides but you have to go back a long way in the record books to find it, 1886 in fact when Redcar knocked out Middlesbrough FC from the FA Cup before losing out to Birmingham FC in the 1/4 finals.
