PCSO Laura McCallum, PCSO Michelle Crinnion, PCSO Andy Bennett and PC Lauren Somerville are among 31 people affiliated to Cleveland Police who signed up to run 2 miles a day in the 250 mile run to remember challenge which was set up following the 2012 death on duty of Manchester PC Nicola Hughes and her colleague PC Fiona Bone.

In what will be a poignant finale to their 250 mile challenge, PCSO McCallum and her 3 colleagues will also travel to Manchester to run their final two miles.

And to further raise the profile of the Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund, the four came in to Middlehaven Police Office on their day off last Friday, (28th February) from 7:00am and were on hand to spruce up cars belonging to people working there.

PCSO McCallum said: “Along with police service colleagues across the country, the terrible events in Manchester where two officers lost their lives will always be in the forefront of my mind.

“Taking part in the Run to Remember was just one way in which I felt I could do something positive and I was delighted with the support from staff at Middlehaven Police Office on Friday.  It was a long day and very hard work but totally worth it.”

The four officers washed over 100 cars and estimate they raised over £300.
